Jack F. Trope is an attorney who provides consulting, technical assistance and training services, with a focus on Indian law and policy. He also serves as an Appellate Justice on the High Court of the Upper Mattaponi Tribe of Virginia. Previously, he worked as a Senior Director for Public Policy and National Partnerships in the Indian Child Welfare Program at Casey Family Programs in Denver. Jack also served as the Executive Director of the Association on American Indian Affairs (AAIA) for more than 13 years (and as Staff Attorney earlier in his career), as Director of the Albuquerque-based Western Area Office for the Save the Children Federation and was a partner with the law firm of Sant’Angelo & Trope. Mr. Trope has authored a number of publications, including co-authoring the 3rd and 4th Editions of The Indian Child Welfare Act Handbook published by the American Bar Association.
