Presentation
The American Indian Wellbeing unit within Minnesota’s Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) compliance team presenting on Minnesota’s Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) and Minnesota Indian Family Preservation Act (MIFPA) compliance process. The presentation will focus on how we evaluate complaints, the tools we use to gather information, our interview process, how we share outcomes, and the development of corrective action plans related to compliance complaints. We will also cover how findings and outcomes are documented and shared, including communication with relevant agencies and Tribes. Finally, we will outline how corrective action plans are developed, and implemented to address identified areas of non-compliance, strengthen practice, and support ongoing accountability to ICWA and MIFPA standards.
