Workshop
Fingerweaving is an ancient art and science that ancestors have been creating for thousands of years! To see Indigenous fingerweaving is to witness resilience. It teaches creativity and identity, but also how to belong to a tradition and community. In the past, these styles and techniques have been used to create cordage, mats, clothing, and even blankets! Today, we make reminders of connection and continue to keep this art form alive. This generation weaves sacred strands too, and the future is bright! Come learn the basics of Indigenous fingerweaving and have fun creating a Fingerwoven Sunlight Catcher to continue carrying culture through weaving!
